CM calls for review of structures in state

first_imgKolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed to review the “conditions of all bridges, flyovers, embankments and irrigation dams” in the state, with the onset of monsoon.Sources said that the Chief Minister has given the direction as she is concerned about the common people and she wants the review to be done so that no untoward incident takes place during monsoon.After the assessment of the condition of the structures, the concerned authorities will take necessary steps for repairing them, if needed. Following the direction of the Chief Minister, the top brass of the state Public Works Department (PWD) has urged all its zonal engineers to inspect the condition of all bridges and flyovers under their jurisdiction.Direction has been given to the zonal engineers to submit the report to the Engineer-in-Chief of the department by July 13 and the compiled reportwill be finally submitted on July 16.The zonal engineers have been directed that they must take immediate steps for repairing after restricting traffic movement on bridges and flyovers, if the necessity of immediate repair is found during the inspection.It may be mentioned that the state government has already completed the assessment of all roads in the state.last_img
